Quantik Hub: Building a More Connected Business
We have recently launched Quantik Hub, our new internal business operating system designed to bring our people, processes and information into one connected environment.
The Hub is now being used across Quantik by employees, subconsultants and business managers to support the day-to-day activities involved in running and delivering our business.
Its purpose is straightforward: to make the way we operate simpler, more consistent and increasingly automated.
Why we launched Quantik Hub
As Quantik has grown, so has the volume of information needed to manage our projects, people and business operations.
Like many businesses, individual requirements had historically been solved using a combination of spreadsheets, forms, emails and separate applications. While these tools can work well individually, they can also create fragmented processes and information that is difficult to use effectively across the wider business.
We wanted to change that.
Quantik Hub has been developed to provide a central operating environment where information is captured in a structured and consistent way and can then be used across different business processes.
Rather than creating another spreadsheet or standalone solution every time a new requirement arises, we are building processes around connected data.
What is Quantik Hub used for?
Quantik Hub supports a growing range of operational and commercial activities across the business.
This includes areas such as project information, resource and employee data, sales and charge-out rates, subconsultant management, purchase orders, approvals and other internal business processes.
Instead of these activities operating independently, the Hub allows information and workflows to connect.
For example, information captured as part of one process can be used elsewhere without somebody having to manually re-enter, transfer or reconcile it.
For our teams, the aim is to provide simple interfaces for completing everyday activities.
For our business managers, it provides more consistent and reliable information about what is happening across the company.
And for the business as a whole, it creates the structured data needed to support better reporting, automation and future development.
Standardising how we work
An important part of developing Quantik Hub has been standardisation.
When processes rely heavily on individual spreadsheets or manual methods, there will inevitably be differences in how information is recorded and managed.
Bringing those activities into a structured system means defining what information is required, when it should be captured and what should happen next.
That creates greater consistency across the business while reducing unnecessary administration.
It also means that processes can be improved centrally. Rather than relying on individuals to adopt new templates or ways of working, improvements can be built directly into the system.
Automating routine activities
Quantik Hub has also been designed with automation in mind.
Where information is structured and processes follow defined workflows, many of the administrative activities surrounding them can be automated.
That can include notifications, approvals, document generation, data updates and the movement of information between different parts of our technology environment.
Our objective is not to automate for the sake of automation. It is to remove repetitive tasks where technology can perform them more consistently and allow our people to concentrate on activities that require professional knowledge and judgement.
Creating the foundations for AI
The development of Quantik Hub also forms part of our wider approach to AI.
For AI to become genuinely useful within business operations, it needs more than access to individual documents or applications. It needs reliable information and clearly defined processes from which to operate.
By moving towards structured data and connected workflows, Quantik Hub provides the foundations from which we can introduce AI agents into appropriate areas of our operations.
This is an area we expect to develop significantly as the Hub evolves.
Developed internally at Quantik
Quantik Hub has been designed and developed internally using the Microsoft technology ecosystem.
Developing the system ourselves has allowed us to build around the way Quantik actually operates, rather than adapting our processes to fit an off-the-shelf business system.
It has also given us practical experience of connecting data, applications, automation and AI within a working professional services environment.
That knowledge is particularly relevant as we continue to explore and develop technology solutions specifically for quantity surveying.
A platform that will continue to evolve
The launch of Quantik Hub is not the end of the project.
It gives us a core platform from which we can continue to connect processes, improve data capture, introduce further automation and develop new capabilities.
As the business evolves, so will the Hub.
Ultimately, its purpose is to support a simple principle: **technology should take care of more of the process so our people can concentrate on the work that requires their expertise.**
Our vision at Quantik is to restore the craft of quantity surveying.
Quantik Hub is one of the ways we are building the operational and technological foundations to help us achieve it.
