Lunch and learn: Should you adjudicate? The commercial reality

Quantik Associate Director Ben Thomson hosted a lunch and learn webinar exploring the commercial considerations contractors and subcontractors should assess before embarking on adjudication.

Part of The science of Quantik® webinar series, the session looked beyond securing a favourable decision to consider what a successful outcome means for a business.

Drawing on his experience in quantity surveying, commercial management and adjudication, Ben explored the importance of evidence, the costs involved and the practical challenges of recovering payment. A worked example illustrated how the amount in dispute can differ from the eventual net recovery.

The session also considered when negotiation or mediation may offer an appropriate route, alongside the importance of preparation, timing and commercial relationships.
