
Key Lessons from the Society of Construction Law Lunch Mancehster
Quantik was delighted to host guests at the recent Society of Construction Law (SCL) Lunch in Manchester, bringing together professionals from across the construction and legal sectors for an afternoon of networking, discussion, and professional development.
The event featured a particularly memorable keynote presentation from a former hostage negotiator, who shared insights into the psychology of communication and negotiation. While the experiences discussed came from a very different environment to the construction industry, the lessons were highly relevant to the challenges faced by project teams, consultants, contractors, and legal professionals every day.
One of the key takeaways was that successful negotiation is not always about making concessions or finding compromise at any cost. Instead, effective outcomes are often achieved through active listening, understanding what truly matters to the other party, and building trust throughout the process.
In an industry where disputes, commercial pressures, and competing interests can arise, these principles are particularly valuable.
