2025 so far and what's ahead
A weekly article series is not an easy endeavour. Yet here we are with 80-plus articles published already and many more in the pipeline. Given we are reaching the holiday period, it made sense to publish an article that was a bit lighter in content before getting back into it for the rest of 2025.
The year so far
When we devise our mini-series, we think through what we have been doing recently and how we can package learning from our experience and deliver this to you in an easy-to-understand fashion. The services we perform for clients can vary from month to month, so that reflects in the mini-series we have covered, which include NEC4, quantum expert evidence, intelligent use of tech, generative AI and construction claims.
The mini-series that was the most interesting for me was the quantum expert articles. This is a hot topic for the RICS at the moment, so the mini-series prompted me to go back through the relevant RICS information as well as research relevant case law. The latter turned up some surprises, with, for example, one expert being discredited as a witness by one judge but found to be credible by the other judge! The contrast in these judgments shone a spotlight on the challenges that face those choosing to give expert evidence.
This year saw the first collaboration in what turned out to be many collaborations, with more to come. We collaborated with Carly Thorpe on quantum expert evidence, James Garner and Yoshi Fabyan Soornack on generative AI and Matthew Klinefelter BSc IEng MICE MCIArb on delay analysis within construction claims. These collaborations have allowed our business stakeholders to showcase themselves to our network as well as providing fresh and interesting perspectives that complement and contrast with our views.
Webinars
As if writing weekly articles wasn't challenging enough, we decided to add monthly webinars into the mix too! We recognise that different people consume content in different ways, so we run the webinars live and add the recording online.
We have some initial success with 100-plus attending the webinars, which is a fantastic start. The feedback has been very positive, with attendees enjoying the way we limit these to 30 minutes and deliver it over lunch. The information is packaged to allow attendees to take a handful of top tips from the session that can be used in their day-to-day role.
The content is available on our YouTube channel and our website. Our followers are growing with every video, and the addition of YouTube Shorts has assisted that with 1-2 minute clips taken from the videos and delivered as their own content for those who prefer to consume their content in that way.
We are always thinking about the time you invest versus the return we want to deliver, and, based on the feedback we get, it seems we are getting that right.
What's next
We have more articles to come with mini-series on contractual issues, payment issues, adjudication and intelligent use of tech in the pipeline, where we will be joined by members of our team as well as more of our business stakeholders.
We are likely to deliver these weekly as we have previously, but we are contemplating whether to deliver 2-3 articles over the course of a few days on a monthly basis. Don't be surprised to see us trial that at some point to test the data and see which is most effective.
We recently established our monthly update, which is delivered to those on our mailing list, and it is likely that, in the near future, we will port these articles to being delivered from our mailing platform. This means it will only go to those who are on our mailing list, so if you are not on our mailing list, please add yourself so that you do not miss out.
The link to add yourself to our mailing list is here: mailing list link.
Next week
We are pleased to be joined by Mark Stubbs, who will deliver a short mini-series on contractual issues in the construction industry, and we will hopefully provide you with some top tips and practical guidance to help manage some of the common pitfalls.
